THE GUTTER L.E.S. | 2020
The Gutter Bar’s latest expansion on the Lower East Side, housed at 77 Essex Street, introduces a novel recreational experience to the area with its unique blend of bowling alley and bar. Architecturally, the space is a celebration of reclamation and nostalgia, featuring a 100-foot bar constructed from a repurposed bowling lane and surrounded by 24 taps of diverse beers, including local crafts from Other Half and Fifth Hammer. The bowling area itself revives the spirit of the 1970s with 12 restored lanes and vintage pinsetters, embodying a fusion of retro charm and modern entertainment.
The interior design of The Gutter L.E.S. mirrors a quaint “middle America” aesthetic, adorned with an array of salvaged vintage brewery memorabilia, antique beer sconces, and eclectic thrift store art, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. This ambiance is further enriched by the presence of vintage pinball machines, classic video games, and table games, ensuring a diverse entertainment experience. As the largest of The Gutter’s three locations, this new venue not only enhances the architectural landscape of the Lower East Side but also introduces a vibrant community space for both leisure and gastronomy, promising a memorable experience for locals and visitors alike.
